Good morning authors and welcome to the middle of the week. Can you believe we are already a month into the new year? Depending on how you look at it, January either passed you in a blink or dragged on forever, but it's February now, and our first release of the year is coming fast. With the new year, we also aim to update our manuscript wish list. And here it is, straight from the submissions desk!

The General Range


At Sword & Silk Books, we love compelling tales with relatable characters who overcome difficult situations against the odds. Age ranges we accept include Young Adult (YA), New Adult (NA), and Adult fiction. We are open to all genres except middle-grade, children’s books, erotica, non-fiction, and poetry. However, at we’re actively looking for mystery/thriller, ghostly paranormal, and horror novels that grip readers from start to finish.

The Wishlist


In particular, we’d love to see books that focus on or include the following themes:


  • Edge-of-your-seat thrillers, especially featuring female sleuths

  • -Horror novels that keep us up all night

  • -Tales with mermaids, sirens, or other water-based mythical creatures as main characters

  • A protagonist with a ghost sidekick or love interest

  • -Books with settings outside of the USA

  • New adult/college stories dealing with all aspects of growing up, from difficult decisions to newfound freedom

  • Dark Academia mysteries that can comp to Nancy Drew or Riverdale

  • Anything #ownvoices

  • Stories that explore LGBTQIA+ topics, especially asexuality

  • -Historical fiction injected with fresh new elements

  • Stories featuring or inspired by indigenous cultures, in a real-world or fantastical setting

  • Imaginative retellings of lesser-known folktales or fairytales

  • Dual POV contemporary romance with unique concepts
